Short & Sweet: The Custom Home Building Process Explained

Designing and building your dream home shouldn’t be complicated.

Yes, it requires a lot of work. But there is a clear process you should follow to keep it simple.

When you decide that it’s time to take the leap of a lifetime, its helpful to have an idea of what that journey will look like.

Here’s how we do it.

Step One - Discuss your dream

If you haven’t built a custom home before then you’ll need to speak with someone who has.

Book a meeting with a builder or architect (or better yet, both) to discuss your vision and create an action plan.

Step Two – Plan & Design

The Design Stage can make or break a project.

It’s where we spend time developing your dream from a concept into working drawings.

We generally allow 16 weeks to design your home with you.

Step Three - Costing & Contract

As we get closer to finalising your designs, our estimating team will begin to quote your project. We work with you to make sure your project fits within your budget.

We then supply you with your fixed-price building contract.

Step Four - Construction

When you’ve accepted your building contract we then begin construction. There are five key stages of construction which you can read more about here.

Step Five - Completion and Handover

As we near practical completion of your new home, we’ll supply you with everything you need to make moving in a breeze.

And that’s it.

  1. Dream.

  2. Design.

  3. Cost.

  4. Construct.

  5. Deliver.

It doesn’t need to be any more complicated than that.
